Help with a Sirdar pattern - 9427
Hi there - a little help needed for my wife. She's knitting Sirdar's Cropped Cardie from the Roman Holiday book - Design 9427.

She's having a problem with the Shape Front/Sleeve section... the stitch numbers don't seem to be adding up.

Below is a cope of the section she's stuck on... could anyone please simplify and explain what to do where? It's the 'shape sleeve' part that's causing particular trouble. The numbers don't seem to add up... the 47/48 etc.

Could anyone help?
Thanks!
J

Shape Front:

On the Shape sleeve, the section starts with 48sts and in row one, there's a single decrease, the k2togtbl, for the XS so the row ends with 47sts. Row 3 has a single increase, the m1 (probably an increase between stitches) to give 48sts. Then the 4 row pattern repeats with dec on rows 5,13,21,29,37,and 45 and inc on rows 7,11,15,19,23,27,31,35,39,43,and 47. I get an overall increase of 5 sts for a total of 53sts.
Very nice pattern with lots of shaping going on at the same time.
