oh man! here i am suppose to be working and i'm checking the forums for knitting advice>.....i WILL not look at those antique patterns or i'll be working until 6pm! lol

Yeah, you better save the antique patterns for the weekend--or whenever you're not supposed to be working.

I love the history embedded in these journals--the yarns available, the things people wore, the things women wore to bed, the unique things that were important (hair bowls?), and, of course, the patterns themselves. They have inspired me to try Irish crochet . . . . some day when I'm a little less busy.

If you're interested in Irish crochet, here's a site that has cataloged and listed (with images) all of the Irish crochet patterns from the antique pattern library. Very cool indeedy!
