Joining Linen Yarn
Happy to find a place to get advice from experienced knitters!!
I am working for the first time with 100% linen. My project is coming along nicely, but I am now at a point to join a new ball. My project is a cowl, knit in the round on circular needles. Just wondering what the preferred method of joining would be. No edges to end and start on :-). I really want to make sure to have a good secure join. I usually like the russian splice, but it seems too smooth to grab onto itself to be secure. Anyway, Thanks in advance for any words of wisdom!!

Hi and welcome!
I've overlapped the old and new strands with linen yarn and that works. If you have any kind of pattern with knit and purl stitches it helps to hide the join in the RS purl stitches. Usually a one or two stitch overlap works but for linen I knit for several sts just because it tended to be a bit slippery. There may well be better methods of joining linen but this worked for a sweater I made with a Maggi linen/cotton blend.
