Pattern advice
Hi, I'm new to this forum and would really appreciate help with this pattern for a cardigan shaping shoulders and back neck,

here goes; I have 74 stitches, RS facing

Cast off 5 stitches at the beginning next 2 rows, I'm ok with that
Cast off 5 sts, K until 8 sts on needle, turn, leave rem on a holder ( I have now put the 51 sts on a holder, the yarn is attached to these sts) the 8 sts left are on my right needle WS facing is this correct?
Now I become confused.
Pattern continues; Cast off 3 sts, P to end.
Cast off rem 5 sts.
Rejoin yarn to rem sts, cast off center 38sts, knit to end, Complete to match first side, reversing shapings.
Thankyou to anyone who will unravel my pattern query.

I'm trying to work this out on a graph, but it seems like something may be missing. What is the name of the pattern you are knitting from?

Welcome to Knitting Help!
It's the "K until 8sts on the needle" that's confusing. Usually it's written as "K 8sts" or "K until 8sts on right needle". Then that line would be:

Cast off 5 sts, K 8 sts , turn, leave rem on a holder
(you would have 51sts on a holder but the yarn is coming off the 8sts which are now on the left needle, WS facing, after the turn)

Cast off 3 sts, P to end.
Cast off rem 5 sts.
Rejoin yarn to rem sts, cast off center 38sts, knit to end, Complete to match first side, reversing shapings.
It's a very elegant pattern. Have fun finishing it and post a photo if you'd like. We'd love to see it.
