A gorgeous bobble theme
I undertook a practise knit in preparation for possibly knitting a "shawl collar cropped jacket".

The repeating stitch pattern is just delightful and would work perfectly in a scarf (as an example): here it is:

For a scarf

Cast on 23, 29, 33 or 41 stitches, depending on your yarn thickness and needle size - a chunky yarn and largish needles works well for this.

Work 6 rows of garter stitch

Pattern begins

1st row (right side) - purl
2nd row * (K1, P1, K1) all into the same st (ensuring your yarn is brought forward for the purl component), P3tog* rep from * to end.
3rd row - purl
4th row *P3tog, (K1, P1, K1) all into the same st, rep from * to end.

Lovely jacket and it does look like fun to knit. The stitch pattern is called Trinity stitch.
