Knitting changed my life
No lie. I would not be where I am today without knitting. Through knitting I made a whole slew of friends who later introduced me to my husband.

I was super depressed and my mom was sick of hearing me whine and told be to snap out of it and the only thing I could think to do was learn a new skill. I had been thinking about learning how to knit, but I was too impatient to take a class so I bought a learn to knit kit from Michael's and taught myself.

My grandmother had been trying to teach me, but she thought that since I was left handed that I would knit lefty too (nope). Once I finally sat down to teach myself I became hooked. The self esteem I got from learning something I previously thought was too difficult for me and watching my first scarf grow and grow made me like I could do anything. I fell in love with knitting and the community of knitters.

Whenever someone I care about is going through a tough time I send them a learn-to-knit kit.
