pattern error or am i missing something?
i am making a set of cabled mittens, it calls for a kfb stitch, k1, kfb. so there should be 5 stitches, but the pattern says that there should be four?

Yes, kfb, k1, kfb should give you 5sts in this section. Could be a mistake. Can you quote the exact line?

23 + 17 = 40, so the kfb, k1, kfb should be 5.

You can check the next row to make sure it uses 5 stitches between the markers.

Hi Alayna - Could you give us the name of the pattern you are working on?

I have been trying to figure out the directions, and I definitely need more info to be able to do that. If it is a free pattern, the link would be most helpful; in lieu of that, the instructions for the row before and after.
