I may be new but still... My took I just finished looks like a fishers hat or a bad Tilly hat... I almost ruined it after finishing it because some how I dropped like 5 stitches... I made it for a 3 yr old and it is to big for EVERYONE's head
I tried to make an inner shell to tighten it and somehow I dropped a stitch that truly would not sit where it was supposed to
I know that with knitting there are going to be problems... But everyone wants to show it off and all I want to do with it is make good fire starter fuel

We've all been there, done that with things not being the size we expected. You might want to check the Free Videos section, the button is at the top of the page. There are lots of useful videos there covering all the basics including gauge.
This is the last time I'm frogging this project for the last time.
When I was growing up, a took was the standard knitted hat with a ribbed border, like the ones worn by dock workers. NR may have a different definition of took. I'll be interested to hear another interpretation...
