Oh... and just let me add something here, the reason for a "top down" knit is because I have been asked to knit a hat "quickly" ( I have no measurements to work with..) due to the fact that a 10 year old boy has had is leg amputated to cancer and is now under going chemotherapy.consequently losing his hair...

I'm sorry. I seriously did miss how many posts you have. I wasn't meaning to be sarcastic at all, I did try to help find a pattern. Why you want to knit top down isn't any of my business. I hope you can find a pattern to your liking. Please don't let me cause you to avoid this site.

I'm sorry about the little boy. That makes sense why you'd want to do a top down hat. I suggested Ravelry because there are so many patterns. You didn't mention that you'd already checked there so I had no idea.
