Elephants!!
I live in southern CA and a local seaside city, Dana Point, has all these awesome elephants around the community. Here's info about why and more pics of the ones I didn't get.

The only difference between an experienced knitter and new knitter is that the experienced knitter makes bigger mistakes faster. Be bold; there are no terrible consequences in knitting.

Those are great!! Cincinnati, OH does something similar every so often with pigs!! It ties in with the Flying Pig Marathon. Cinci was once the pork capital of the US hence the flying pig and the pig statues.

Lakeland does that with its city logo animal which is a swan. We have a lake here in Lakeland that has several pairs of swans that are year round residents.
