I'm looking to make a chevron striped scarf a la Charlie Brown's shirt which requires a straight edge instead of a wavy one. Anyone know how to accomplish this? Would I just work in stockinette until I wanted the stripe and then switch to the chevron pattern? I'm kind of dubious that that would work but I've never tried this pattern before.
You could try some garter stitch at the edge or garter stitch and then stockinette. This scarf gives you some idea of how that might work. It's not the chevron that you're thinking of but the edging does work and apparantly without corling
Do you intend for the entire body of the scarf to be chevron striped, or are you looking to just put in a few chevron stripes? If only a few, you might try intarsia/fairisle to place the stripe. A tubular/double-knit scarf would work well for this.
Hmmm. Well, I checked out all the different methods you mentioned. I just want basically two chevron stripes at each end of the scarf. But everything I've seen so far is a little too advanced for my current experience. Guess I'll keep practicing and experimenting.
