What you do is find a multiple of 11 that will come close to the correct size (~2" less than your head size). Then find a multiple of 4 that is close, but a smaller number. Cast on the multiple for the rib and when you're ribbed for the desired length, increase to the multiple of 11 for the cable patten. So if the multiple of 11 is 66sts, cast on 64sts for the rib and increase 2sts on the last row of the rib. Space the increases out so that they're not bunched together whatever the number turns out to be.

I couldn't figure out the conversion for my size 10 needles because I didn't know how to count the stitches in a cable, so stupid me, I went out and bought size 6 needles and cast on 88. I got about a quarter way through and tried it on and couldn't even get it over my head. At least it gave me practice doing cables! Lol

My question is repeat from where? There is no 1st asterick* Any help would be appreciated.

So I think the repeat in this row is the same number of sts with the asterisk at the beginning of the instructions or: Next round, decrease within each cable: *P1, hold three stitches forward, K1 k2tog, from held stitches k1 k2tog, K1 skpo, P1, repeat from, *

I would look, but I think that's probably something you can do, yes? In fact, I think I saw this very question answered somewhere in the thread.
