I finally finished one of the gloves that should go with this baret
. It only took me one year and I am still not at all happy about it. It is wearable, but it definitely needs tweaking (a lot). This project makes me realize how much I hate that
Just give me a pattern and let the result be exactly as described
It hasn't happened yet.
Here's the right hand glove I've knitted:
It looks way too massive for my hand, doesn't it? That is true: the part around my hand is bulky, while I did try it on and measured it repeatedly
I know that I should have just frogged it when I realized it was too big, but I somehow thought it would magically fit after a good night of sleep
Somehow I cannot bring myself to frog things that look halfway decent... "Kill your darlings" - I didn't (though I haven't taken out the lifelines yet)
As for the fingers:
And there are plenty of holes. I tried and tried, but every time I tried to pick up the stitches differently - different holes appeared. Never NONE.
Having said that, I'll wear it any way
On to the left glove!
PS Any ideas on what to do differently on that one would be much appreciated. I'll definitely make the 'hand/palm' part shorter. I don't care that they won't look the same - I am going for progress
One day I will magically knit a wonderful glove
After all, this is my first try...
PS2 I already got some quite some ideas on how to avoid holes
, but it isn't working out. It actually amazes me how I can still go wrong with that much good advice
