I'm going to have to look at this decrease more closely. I am using variegated cotton yarn and it might be hiding something that will glare at me in a solid color or other fiber but at least for this mitered square project it works great. I think it looks neater than the ssk - both versions - but knitting styles and techniques vary so much that YMMV.
