Twisting a stitch?

That previous mention of a Rogue Hoodie had me look it up, too.
Wow! I just have to make it.
Pity it's really advanced, and I've only been knitting for a couple of months.

Still... I think this will make a lovely summer project, and I'm nothing if not stubborn.

I've been working on a test swatch, and so far, so good.

The only thing I can't seem to grasp is how to "twist" a stitch.

Help?

If you knit as most books direct you to, then you insert your needle into the front leg of the knit stitch. (A knit stitch wraps around the needle in your left hand and you stick your needle into the front of the stitch)
To twist a stitch you have to squeeeze your needle into the back leg of the stitch. Knitting in this manner will twist your stitch when you work it.
