Question about swatching...
Oy. I am STILL doing scarves for Christmas gifts, but I have decided to mix it up a bit and go for "Mom's Sophisticated Scarf" from Stitch n' Bitch Nation. Anyhow, I have to swatch a basketweave pattern. and it called for size 8 needles. I am a loose knitter, and the last time a pattern called for 8's I used 10's.

Anyhow, I have swatched out the basketweave pattern, as it calls for, and I am getting 4 5/8 for stitch length, and 5 for row length. It calls for 4. So, I realize that I need to use smaller needles....but what is the deal with the discrepancy between the rows and stitches?

I like this width of scarf though, so I think I will go ahead and just continue on and just forget about the seed stitch on the endings.

One more stupid there a difference between a K1 and a k1? :?
