YB and YF
Hello all!

I am new to this list and website (which I love and will share with my fellow knitters at the library!) and I am hoping that someone can set me straight.

I am working on Patons' Hooded Poncho to Knit which can be obtained for free on their website after becoming a member (also free) at www.patonsyarn.com/index. After casting-on with siz US 15 needles, the pattern says to change to size US 11 needles, K1 and make a "loop stitch" in all stiches until the last stitch, where you would K1. To make a loop I am supposed to K into the stitch, but not take original st off the left needle, yf (which I understand means to bring the yarn to the front between the 2 needles), wrap the yarn around my thumb, yb, slip the newly made st back onto the left needle and knit the 2 sts tog.

My question is about the placement of the yarn. Should the yb go back between the needles or around the left needle? Will this newly made loop be "anchored" in this row, or am I supposed to be able to "pull" it inot different lengths? :?

I've never done this type of st before and would appreciate the experience of another knitter.

Thanks!

Amy to the rescue!
Amy has a great video on just how to do that here:
http://www.knittinghelp.com/knitting...ed_techniques/
under "decorative stitches"

Actually, I have had another question about that myself....what if we dont want loops as big as our thumbs? Has anyone ever used anything besides their thumb to make a loop? A sharpie marker, perhaps?

:D Thank you for letting me know where this demo can be found! I had done a quick search before and missed it. It was very helpful seeing exactly how making loops is done!

I appreciate your help!

It is?!

If that's the case then don't worry. I would be the "rudest" person on these boards. I have a thread where I've bumped myself several times :D
