Ok Kelly... the smallest I could get it was to 38 sts wide. :| Any smaller and too much detail is lost.. it'll look like a blob instead of a sock. Trust me, if I cared about baseball, I would have just made you a blob, but I'm more of a football girl.
Anyway, I hope 38 sts is ok. Or should I bend over and take my thrashings?
Yeah, to make it fit a knitting graph, you can skew the image to be wider than it is tall. That's the one thing about that tutorial that bugs me. LOL
OK, this is the part that I don't understand about charting...why do the squares need to be different? And if so, is it because knit stitches are taller than they are wide? If that's right, shouldn't the squares be taller than they are wide or am I backwards?
It doesn't matter a *WHOLE* lot, but knitted stitches are wider than they are tall. So if you chart on regular graph paper with squares, the finished knitting will be shorter and wider than intended. If you graph onto knitter's graph paper, what you see is what you get.
