Knitting - number of inches
I always get confused about the number of inches I have to knit.

I am making a sweater. I knitting the ribbing for 3". Then it says to continue in the stockinette stitch until the it measures 6" from the beginning. Does the "beginning" mean from the start of the knitting or when I started knitting the stockinette stitch. So in total right from the beginning I have knitted 3" in ribbing and then 3" in stockinette which totals 6". Please let me know if I am correct.

Thank you.
