I just starting knitting, and I'm soooo totally lost. Can anyone show me the abbreviations and what the abbreviations mean. Also I want to make a baby blanket for a friend, how many casting stitches do I need to begin? (did I say it right...lol)

Up in the top right corner, you'll see a tab called "Abbreviations Explained".

To figure how many stitches you need to cast on, you first need to know the gauge of your yarn. Check the yarn label for that. Then let us know and we can help figure out how many stitches you need.

The amount of stitches to cast on for a blanket depends on how big you want the blanket, the yarn you're using and the size of the needles you're using.
