Getting ready to try felting for the first time...need help!
I just finished knitting a 'booga bag' and need to felt it. I have never done this before...do I use laundry detergent? If so, how much? Thanks in advance!! :XX:

no detergent is necessary, but if you want to cut down on the stinky wet wool smell, use a little. and I mean a reeeallly really tiny amount. (remember, you are putting your washer on the lowest water setting.)

p.s. hi to a fellow VW fan

When I felted last week I used a microscopic amount of soap...and my machine was filled with bubbles. I don't know quite how that works...but it was amazing.

So yeah, the less soap the better.

Love your screen name too...my very first car (that I bought myself) was a 1971 yellow beetle. Ah, the joy, the pain.

I like to add a tablespoon or two of scented fabric softener. Haven't had any problems with that.
