A dear friend just taught me how to knit! I made a scarf and now a poncho. My poncho pattern is Jen's Poncho from The Knit Stitch by Sally Melville. It is made from two rectangles. The knitting part is all done. Do I need to block before sewing the rectangles together??? If so, how do I do this?

Thanks in advance,

Some people never block, a very few people always block. If you think that the corners are square and the two rectangles are about the size they need to be, you don't HAVE to block it. I would lay it out on the bed and see how it looks prior to trying to block. If it looks wonky, you might want to go ahead and do it just to be safe. Welcome to the world of knitting!

I don't think you really need to block a poncho. I don't usually block anything where sizing isn't crucial.
