Thank you all for the compliments.
I think Angelia may be the only one who saw my post in the Sticky "Introduce yourself" on the General forum. Thank you for the welcome, Angelia.
I wouldn't want anyone to think knitting is new to me. I've been at it for more than 40 years. After having made a few very basic sweaters, my next project was a fisherman sweater from a book for DH. That was back in '66. He still wears the sweater.
I learned how to calulate the number stitches for fisherman sweaters from Barbara Walker's 1968 A Treasury of Knitting Patterns.
I'm on the down side of my knitting career now. My hands are going south, with the rest of my body, so I like to do smaller projects.
If you can knit a hat, you can add cables. After the ribbing, I increase 1 stitch for every cable twist. For cables with 3 sts crossed over 3 sts, I inc 2 sts for each twist.
I've had very little exposure to other knitters, so I know I will learn a lot on this board. And maybe I'll be able to pass along something here too.
*Knit, rip*, repeat between the *s as many times as necessary.
