Needle size 1,3,5??

hi!

i have some needles with odd sizes - the #1's are huge and the 5's look more like 10's.

does anyone know what's going on? i don't own a needle gauge - does anyone know what size they 'really' are?

on a side note .... i read a post about how wonderful it is to read and knit at the same time. SO, how long had you been knitting before you felt comfortable taking your eyes off your needles? it sounds like Nirvana!!
