How do you stitch a seam without the edges curling?
Hi everyone!

Can someone explain to me how to sew a seam (what will be a bottom of a purse) straight without having problems with the cast on edge curling up? I used a cable cast on, and the bag (so far) has been even and neat. I am so nervous that I will mess it up and I do not want to start over. I am working on a felted bag for my mom for Valentine's Day and I don't know if I will get it done if I start over.

Here is the pattern:

I am familiar with the different types of seam stitches, but I am interested in knowing how to "prepare" the piece for seaming. Do I wet it, iron it, pin it? Help please!! :XX:
Today is a gift, that's why it's called the present.
