I made the smaller size and used a single strand of Brown Sheep (I think that's the brand) Lamb's Pride Wool yarn. I have never used the WOTA yarn before, this was my first felting project, but if it's worsted weight, one strand should be fine. The finished tote feels pretty thick to me although I don't have anything else to compare it too. The handles didn't shrink down in length as much as I would have liked, I wanted them a little shorter. They also twisted a little when it was felting, so I just had to keep straigtening them out each time I checked them. The bag itself knitted up fairly quickly.
If you have any more questions, let me know. Glad you liked it! :D

Is this a free pattern? I'd love to have the pattern--I've gotten the "felting bug".
