humbly seeking guidance and now it is being suggested that... well, I cannot even continue.

Dear Hubby,

Please let Angela buy more yarn. She will save you so much money knitting up those felted slippers. You'll even save on heating bills since just the mere site of yarn warms one's soul. Between the warm feet and the warm soul, you'll save hundreds.
