I've been knitting off and on for many years with large time gaps between projects. I was 1st taught how to knit in high school. Don't remember what happened to the scarf project, lol. My last project was a sweater for my granddaughter about 3 years ago. Just as I was completing it, my son and his wife split up and have an ongoing custody battle. Because I had the strong impression that I would no longer be involved in gd's life, I couldn't bring myself to sew the pieces together. Fortunately, gd IS back in my life now, so I'm working on a dress for her (the Angel Baby dress in the Knitting in the Round book). It's my 1st attempt at knitting in the round, but the pattern appears simple enough and is indicated as Easy. I hope to knit a poncho for her, also. Perhaps one day, I'll sew together the sweater pieces...it just might fit a doll or large teddy bear.
Actually I've been motivated to return to knitting because of the recent addition of 2 dogs in our household. Funny, none of the seaters we've had for other dogs are the right size or they have holes in them.
I'm really impressed with all the "FUN" yarns available. They're SO inspiring.
