Cast off
Hello fellow knitters........
I have a question (dumb as it may be) but what does cast off mean.....not sure that it would be the same as bind off.
I am knitting some mittens to felt and this part of the instruction says.....
when it's down to 12 stitches. Cast off. Break yarn leaving a long end. Sew two sets of 6 sts loosely.

Would this be grafting like a toe of a sock..? Just need clarity on "cast off"

Thanks for your help !
