No way! Of course not! That's the point of designing--so you can tailor it to what fits you!

I' *don't* know how to add darts, though.... I've only done bust shaping with shortrows (and then subsequently frogged because the whole thing was too big anyway).... :thinking: hopefully someone else will be able to help in that area.

cables WILL increase the amount of yarn you use... and cables also make a thicker (warmer) fabric; that's why it's used in all those Irish fisherman sweaters.

I'm not a lace afficianado..... Part of me wants to say lace will use less than average because of the holes..... KK? Ingy?

The horizontal "darts" that I know how to do are short rows! Having learned the technique in a class I recently took at my LYS I am anxious to use them, but will probably be doing some knit-frog repeats myself to get them the correct place, depth and cup size. But since I am thinking of doing this with a ribbon yarn at a large gauge the main body will go quickly and I will have plenty of time to work out the bust section.

I think I remember reading something about shortrow placement in one of my bajillion knitting books; the problem will be finding it.... :thinking:

Doesn't Knitty cover placement in their article on how to do short row shaping? I thought it did.
