I don't think I can wait until August for this book...
The Yarn Girls' Guide to Knits for Older Kids : Quick-to-Knit Patterns for Four- to Ten-Year-Olds considering I have a 5 yo DS, 7 yo DD, and 9 yo DS (and a 5 month old DD).

Anybody have any other favorite older kid pattern books? Seems most things are either geared for babies/toddlers or adults, not much in between.

Looks like you'll have to since it doesn't come out till August! It does look like a neat book though! After I saw it didn't come out till Aug I started searching and found this...

Monkeysuits: sweaters and more to knit for kids

Monkeysuits!! I don't know if it's what you might need, but the name is hilarious! I looked through the book and it does have sizing for kids up to like 10-12 on many things and it's $4.79 used.

There is a Rowan book called Tadpoles and Tiddlers that has a wide range of sizes of sweaters. You can usually find one used at Amazon.

I like Rowan's patterns. Their styles for kids seem to be pretty classic to me. I like to look at the books I'm considering for purchase at http://www.theknittinggarden.com/pt-rowan.htm You can click on the book to get a preview of the patterns and yarn estimates.

This one is very cool: Style Your Own Kids Knits

Actually, I haven't knit anything from it yet, but I looove the concept -- it has basic patterns for kids, divided by age -- i.e. the 4-6 year-old chapter will have patterns for pullovers and cardigans, with different kinds of necks/sleeves, and you can customize the patterns by adding motifs, borders, etc. It's very nifty. :D

Yeah! I love the Style your Own Kids Knits book too. I love the basic ideas and easy instructions and the encouragement to do what I want with their many ideas. I vote for this one! I have grandkidlets who are getting bigger and am looking for older fun patterns myself! I just bought Vogue's Kids Knits, and it has sizes from 4 to 10. Not a big book but interesting patterns. Maybe your library has it so you can check it out first? I'll let you know what else I find! samm

I saw this in the LYS today and it looks pretty good! They have a baby knits book so I'm guessing this one is geared toward older kids.
