stock piling yarn
I have this thing about colour. I have a hard time getting the right shade I like. So this wool shop has this yarn on sale for $1.00 and it is a 50g
1 3/4oz weight. It only acrylic so I know it is not the real expensive wool, but I can't wear wool. This yarn is soft and it looks like a pretty good quality. They got a big truck load so that is why it is so cheap. So I know this is a real vague question but if I was to buy some for the future because I love the colour, how many balls should I buy to be real safe. I would probably make a long sleeve sweater, maybe cables so I would need more. I am a finished size 34". If I have some left over thats ok because I can knit for charity. I just want to make sure I have enough. I like to do things the hard way.

I usually try to buy about 1500-1800 yards of worsted weight. I always have some left over, but I don't like thinking that I'm going to run out, either.

Here is a chart that gives approximate yardage requirements.

how much yarn
I forgot to say it is 20sts=4" and 26rows. It does not say a yardage on it at all. Just a 50g weight.

50 gram skeins can vary so much in yardage it's silly. Can you lookup the brand on the internet and maybe the yardage information would be there.

I just got an e-mail back from the supplier and they do not sell to the public and she did not tell me the yardage. So, to be safe how many 50g balls should I buy to make a long sleeved sweater finished 34". I have not made a sweater in years so I can not even guess. Is 20 balls enough to make a sweater?
