Seam allowance question
I just cast on for my first sweater, which is knit in a basketweave pattern (I've only knit socks before). I just started the back panel and got past knitting the hem without any problems.

I'm really excited, but I don't know what this means, "on either side, allow for one stitch seam allowance." It doesn't specify whether this one stitch should be knit or purled or whether it should be part of the basketweave pattern itself. I'll admit I have no idea what seam allowance actually is. Any ideas? Thanks!

An edge stitch like this it doesn't really matter how you do it as it's going to be in the seam. K on the RS, P on the wrong side would be just fine and is not part of the pattern.
