Lizard Ridge Questions

So, for anyone who has attempted Knitty's Lizard Ridge pattern, did you just do the 4 repeats in each square?? I have quite a bit of yarn left over, and wonder if I could get 5 repeats out of each skein.

Also, is everyone just wrapping and turning as directed? My wraps don't look so hot, so I have holes and random wrap yarn pieces in my knitting. I tried Nona's Japanese Short Rows techinque for one of the swatches and it looked AWESOME!!! However, it took about 20 pins and a LOT of time. Looking for a quicker method.
