Need Help on Left Twist Stitch

I have been browsing the web looking for knitting help and have just found this site. I am trying to knit an afghan that has different block patterns. I am stuck on one of the patterns. It has a left twist stitch that goes like this

Left twist: Sl next 2 sts knitwise, replace sts on left ndl, reach behind, k1 in 2nd st, k2 tog, sl both sts off ndl

My question is how do I reach behind to k1 in 2st stitch? I have tried it several ways, but it doesn't look right. I would appreciate it very much if someone could either explain it very clearly or point me to a site that explains it. Thank you.

When you do a left twist, you reach behind and knit the second stitch in the back loop, and in this case, they want you to knit the two stitches together, I'm assuming through the front loops.

I never thought of knitting in the back loop of a stitch. I have tried it and it works. It turns out the the knit two stitches together is also in the back loops.

The pattern also has a raised right diagonal and now the left matches with the right. Thank you so much for your help! I have been trying this for a couple of days and could not figure it out.
