anyone done the garnstudio short cardigan pattern?

i have been working on this for too long now, and i'm almost done. i'm seaming the sides, sleeves are already set in. however, the sweater just doesn't seem right. it seems like the body (the one large piece that gets folded to create both front and back) is too large and too long. given that, the sleeves seem set too far low and back, and it won't be wearable. i've remeasured the pieces, double checked the pattern and how it's sewn together and it just doesn't seem right!

has anyone worked this pattern, and did you have trouble with the size and shape? if so, what did you do? i can undo my seams and rip out a few inches of body, but the width is set unless i rip it all out and start all over again.

thanks for any ideas!
