Help with pattern instructions
Hi all, I've almost finished a cardigan for my toddler and I have no idea how this next part of the pattern works, here is the pattern cover picture

The collar (the fluffy part aound the neck)54 sts. is already knitted up and on a stitch holder as per instructions.
I have done the neck border 1st row K1, P1 rib (54) sts
It's the following (in bold) that I'm just not understanding

2nd Row - Graft collar to neck border by passing needle through collar st. then neck band st. and bringing the loop through both sts, rpt to end of row (54) sts.

3rd Row - As 1st Row

4th Row - P1 , K1 to end, work a further 2 rows in rib, cast off in rib.

Any input would be greatly appreciated x

you're basically just connecting the collar to the neck band. They use the word "graft" but that's only the correct knitting term if you're sewing together 2 sets of live stitches. Amy's videos on seaming are [url=http://www.knittinghelp.com/knitting/basic_techniques/misc.php] here [/ur]

Re: Help with pattern instructions
Can anyone explain exactly how to do this please, I have checked all of Amy's videos and I'm totally clueless

Thanks

Basically, you're putting your needle through a stitch on both the collar and the neck edge of the garment at the same time and pulling a loop through each stitch to give you 54 stitches.

Whether you're to do this right side to right side/wrong side to right side/wrong side to wrong side will depend on what your pattern says.

This is how you will attach the collar to the garment.

Does that help?
