how do i make dots

i wanna make a pillow with big overlapping dots on them. i don't have a pattern so i was wondering how do i make my own pattern?

i remember there was a KAL for a felted bag with big polka dots and circles on it but i can't find it now. it was on here but i ran across it on someones blog.
