My So Called Scarf Question

I want to try this pattern which is an altered version of the My So Called Scarf pattern:

•Row 1: K1, *sl 1, K1, yo, pass slipped stitch over both the K1 and yo* repeat until there is one stitch left, K1

My question is, do you return the working yarn to the back before you slip the next stitch?
