My DH said only government offices will be closed tomorrow so we'll see. I'm going to try sending through Fedex tomorrow, if not then I'll send them on Wed. I can't image they'd turn them away and besides, it's not our fault they made tomorrow a day of mourning. Anyway, they are boxed and ready to go!

As we expected, they are still accepting hats for this...

Here's my email to and response from Donor Services...

Hello,

I am a part of a group of knitters who have made many hats for this great cause.
Since January 2nd has been decalared a National Day of Mourning, will you be extending the January 2nd deadline to have knit and crocheted hats sent to your organization?

-------------------
Dear Marce,

Yes you can still send the hat to us at the address below.

Warm Regards,

Dawn Nunn

Man, I'm glad they still take them! I've been sick, and didn't think about it til today!

My local gas station/convenience store actually has a mini post office in it, so I went last night at around 7pm and he postmarked it for the 2nd! Phew!

It's good that they'll still accept late ones, though.

Before this thread falls deep into the pile, I just want to say

WAY TO GO KH KNITTERS!!

I admire you for the time you took to make this contribution to little ones in need. We don't get a personal thank you for every handknit or crocheted item, but it sure does set the balance of blessings in our favor when we give unselfishly.

I'm proud to have done this along with you. Thanks again to Jenelle for getting this started and THANK YOU for joining in!

Marce

I've never needed a personal thank you, just doing it it is enough for me. I know that somewhere, some little child, baby, mom or dad appreciates my hard work.

I actually do know some people who refused to make things for some charities because they didn't get a thank you note. It just makes me

I'm with you, Jan. You should give because you want to give, not because you want the accolades. To me, it is SO satisfying to give of myself to others. That in itself is the gift to myself.

Caps video--a way to keep helping
I'm a teacher and my students and I participated in the Caps to the Capital project. It was a fantastic experience! I have been in contact with Save the Children since the project ended and they let me know about a neat way people can continue to help.

Visit the link below to see a video about our Caps to the Capital experience. At the end of the video, click the sponsor link and up to 49 cents will be donated to Save the Children. Also, another neat thing is the that the last picture in our video is of a baby in Bangladesh wearing one of the hats we made. It was sent to me by Save the Children. All of us knitters and crocheters, we really do make a difference in others lives! Keep it up!
