Socks For Soldiers (SFS)
If you love to knit socks, or beanies, or washcloths, think of joining Socks For Soldiers. It's a yahoo group, an official non-profit organization led by Kim Opperman, with NO political affiliation, just a desire to give something back to the young people deployed in war zones. Ms Opperman is a dedicated, wonderful lady who will provide you with yarn at cost (if not lower...) The group was based on the Red Cross knit-for-soldiers campaign of the first 2 WW.

I joined this group at one time, but was a bit overwhelmed by the barrage of emails I received. Also, the guidelines for yarn were a bit taxing as well. I couldn't find the yarn they required, even after searching in 4 nice yarn shops.

It's a wonderful cause, but is there a way to make it a bit easier to participate in?

For example, could some of us knit socks and forward them to the group without having to join?
