Type of wool? (a question and tiny little rant)

The wool yarn my two yarn and notions shops sell is always very hard, stiff, splitty, and SCRATCHY. Even the wool for sock yarn. It does loosen up a little after blocking, but is never anything you'd want to wear next to your skin. Does anyone know what kind of wool this is?

I'd like to just TOUCH some angora or cashmere.
