I cheated big time with the yarn - the yarn it called for was about $10, and it needed 14 skeins so I could not afford that. I looked around for cheaper bulky wool yarn but I couldn't find a big enough skein for a good price and a color I loved - so I ended up using Bernat Softee Chunky (I know some people hate acrylic! But it was wicked soft!) in New Denim Heather. But I don't feel too bad, I'm still in college so all my extra money goes to books!

My mom loves this sweater, I handed her three knitting books and she chose this one as her favorite, I can't wait to start
and about the yarn-
thank you, my LYS is actually a wal-mart (unless i want to drive an extra 50 miles) so I can't get all of these brands that they suggest in the magazines, Bernat Softee Chunky is a yarn that I can actually find.
So I am going to start as soon as I get the yarn

Also, I have some Bernat Softee Baby in Soft Lilac and I am going to make the "Tangled Yoke Cardigan" from that same copy of Interweave Knits for my stepmother.

This is only your SECOND sweater????? I've been knitting for nearly 2 years and haven't attempted anything that complicated yet. That is absolutely gorgeous - I especially love the color. Excellent job!
