Felting

Hi there,
Can someone tell me what felting is? I just took up knitting again after years of not doing any at all and just found out about this technique. How is it different from regular knitting etc?

Felting (also called "fulling") is an after process. It is what you can do to a finished piece. You can only felt wool and it's entirely optional whether you felt or not after your piece is completed. Usually patterns that are felted after the knitting part is complete are written a bit differently, as the piece will shrink drastically after the felting process (in other words the pattern will call for you to knit something bigger than what the finished, felted piece will be).

Fulling is the deliberate act of shrinking an item knitted from wool. It's what accidentally happened to wool items that got thrown in the washer. I have some pics of fulled clogs and slippers I've been knitting for Christmas presents on my blog.
