Keep up the good work Mason, we must increase the number of knitters until ultimately we rule the world and yarn and needles are considered a necessity. Onward to world domination!!!!!

You guys have got to quit bumping this thread. Every time I see the thread title I say," That's what she said." Then I laugh until it hurts. (Yes, I am 13.)
No, I am not ashamed that I have a major crush on a man who dressed in tights and made faces for most of the 80's, and now plays a crippled drug addicted doctor...and is almost the same age as my father.
Knitting's not hard, but I suck at teaching it. I homeschool my children and my 7 and 9 year old wanted to learn. While My 9 year old was still 8, I tried and tried to teach her. It was so frustrating for us both and she just couldn't get it. She kept begging me to teach her so I bought her a dvd and yarn kit at Target and figured she'd waste a few hours and I'd get some peace. lol....By golly she learned. So now, she knits. But she doesn't like patterns. Comes up with her own (simple) stuff. She makes clothes for her teddy bears and jewelry.

What do you mean guys don't knit?
Linux: because a PC is a terrible thing to waste.
Perfection is overrated. Knitting is meant to relieve stress, not cause it. Relax and enjoy it.

Roxy,
I homeschool too and both of the youngers wanted to learn and it just isn't something I can do. My dd 11 went to knit camp this summer at our lys. No one else signed up so it was just she and her teacher for an hour a day. She did beautifully and now the seven year old wants to go as well. Just not sure as he has fine motor skill issues but maybe with someone other that me it will work.
