I started with a provisional caston, using a crochet hook OVER the needle that I was using to knit the socks, done like this.

They are beautiful, I want the pattern too! They have enough detail to make them more interesting than absolutely plain socks without being fussy. Plus the choice of yarn is great too - love them!
