Fixing a yarnover mistake

I am about 450 stitches into it and in my previous row I have found a mistake. I knitted a stitch where I should have put a yarnover. As I worked around I have come to a knitted stitch instead of my loop over the needle. Is there a way to drop this stitch and make it into a yarnover? I really don't want to tink 450 stitches......HELP!

According to the authors of "When Bad Things Happen to Good Knitters", a missed yarnover discovered in the previous row of knitting can be fixed thus:

"...pull up the thread between the stitches where the yarnover should have been and knit into it."

I have tried this, and the resulting yarnover was very tight, making the hole a bit smaller than it should have been. But in my case, it was acceptable. The tinking option was not.

You don't have to drop the knit st, that would have been there anyway, you just forgot to make the yo. I agree with Mrs Davis, pick up the thread between the sts as if it was the yarnover.
