Gift bags I knitted
Here is a picture of some gift bags that I made. They are approximately 4" x 4" depending on the stitch that is used. When I want to do something for someone I give them one of these bags with a little gift.

Wonderful idea. So much nicer than a store bought bag. And they are beautiful as well. This is gorgeous work. Keep it up!

Thank you very much! To make these you pick a stitch that you like and cast on the multiple of that stitch. For instance the bag with the roses is a multiple of 8 plus 6 so I cast on 14 stitches. Knit 2 rows, then at the beginning of the next row I cast on 2 extra stitches then knit the rest of the row. The next row cast on 2 extra stitches knit the rest. Then I knit the next 2 rows. Then you start the pattern of the stitch. The 1st and last 2 stitches I always knit. Oh and I always pick stitches that takes 12 rows to make. And I repeat it twice. So there are 24 rows of the pattern. Then with right side facing you, where you originally cast on pick up 14 stitches then knit 2 rows, then add on 2 stitches like above for the next 2 rows, knit 2 rows then do the stitch. After you are done with the second side I sew the little edges first at the bottom this makes the base. Then I sew up the side seams. The handles were made with the twisted cord system. Also these bags need to be blocked.

I am sorry that I don't have an actual pattern. These usually take me about an hour to knit up. Then the sewing, decorating and the handles. I just look on the internet and when I find a stitch I like I make into a gift bag.
