blocking
The yarn I'm using for one of my current projects is a 70% merino / 30% silk blend. Do you think I'll be able to reshape my garment to stretch the width a bit when I block it? Thanks in advance!

You should be able to stretch it some. It's best not to guess though when fit is critical. Make a swatch and measure it, then block and measure again. That will be most accurate.
