How to work on the WRONG side
I am knitting a hat and there is a notation on the pattern that states "worked on wrong side".

To start the hat, I have cast on 96 stitches, joined in the round and am working a 1x1 rib of K1 P1.

How do I know which is the wrong side as the pattern looks the same on either side?

The wrong side of a hat would be the inside. If the entire hat is in rib, then it will be the same on both sides until you get to the shaping.

At what point does it refer to the wrong side?

Do you have a link to the pattern? That always helps.

And welcome to Knitting Help!

It looks like you knit the pattern as given. Doing that will be knitting with the wrong side out. It's a little strange that this is noted since the Ravelry notes say:
"The hat is completely reversible and the crown decreases are worked seamlessly within the pattern."
That said, you would think it wouldn't matter whether you were on the RS or the WS.
The link to the pattern is a great help but would you edit your post to remove the writtern pattern (or most of it), please? Even though it's a free pattern, there are still copyright problems.
